How to Host a Bentley and the Crew Day at Your School or Library

Themed reading days are some of my favorite memories from school visits. Here’s a simple plan to host your own Bentley and the Crew Day, whether I’m there in person or not!

Morning: Read-aloud kickoff

Start with one of the Bentley books. Bentley’s Fantabulous Idea is a wonderful first pick because it introduces the whole Crew. Read it once for the story, then again as a hidden predator hunt.

Mid-morning: Centers

  • Word search and word scramble station
  • Maze and patterns station
  • Tracing station for numbers and words
  • Hidden object hunt station with the book

Our printable activity packs have all of these ready to print, with answer keys for easy checking.

After lunch: Create and share

Kids design their own Crew member. What’s their name? What’s their special talent? Display them on a “Join the Crew” bulletin board.

Afternoon: Mismatched sock celebration

Bentley’s World is all about being wonderfully you, so invite everyone to wear mismatched socks. It’s silly, inclusive and costs nothing.

Wrap-up: Take-home fun

Send home a coloring page and a note inviting families to join Bentley’s Dogtourage for free printables.
